Arctic Shipping Status Reports

shutterstock 1063288892The Arctic Shipping Status Reports is a project which illustrates interesting topics related to Arctic shipping. The project is led by USA and the PAME Secretariat.

All Arctic Shipping Reports use data from PAME's Arctic Ship Traffic Database, ASTD. The ASTD project has been developed in response to a growing need to collect and distribute accurate, reliable, and up-to-date information on shipping activities in the Arctic.

The first report provides information on general Arctic shipping trends between 2013 and 2019 and shows how much Arctic ship traffic has increased.  For example, the Report shows that during this six-year period, the number of ships entering the Arctic grew by 25%, and the distance sailed by ships in the Arctic increased by 75%.
