Regulations:
The HSE regulations assume that petroleum activities are prudent with respect to health, safety and the environment. They have been developed to serve as a good tool for the industry and for the authorities, and to facilitate good collaboration between the parties. To this end, the regulations largely set functional requirements, with standards and norms expanding on the regulations’ prudence level.

The guidelines to the regulations often refer to recognized standards as a way to fulfill the functional requirements in the regulations. International standards, like ISO, IEC and EN standards, will normally not be available in full-text on the Internet. These standards can be ordered from the national standardisation organization. This will also apply to most national standards, like API-standards. However, some petroleum-related standards, e.g. those issued by NORSOK, DnV and OLF, are available in full-text on the Internet. Below you will find links to websites where you can order or download standards that are referred to in the guidelines.
The Norwegian Standards Association (NSF) Sells and markets EN-, NS-, ISO- og IEC-standards
NORSOK NORSOK standards
Det norske Veritas (DnV) DnV OS-standards
The Norwegian Oil Industry Association (OLF) OLF guidelines
American Petroleum Institute (API) API standards
International Maritime Organization (IMO) IMO codes og resolutions

Publications - Annual publications from the Petroleum Safety Authority:
Safety - status and signals
http://www.ptil.no/getfile.php/PDF/SSS2011/SSS2011_engelsk.pdf
This is the annual report from the PSA in a magazine format. Its articles summarise and look ahead to some of the most important challenges in the year to come. The goal is to make the topics accessible and thought-provoking both for those working in the industry and for readers with a general interest in the safety aspects of Norway's oil and gas industry. The publication is released both in hard copy and an electronic version..
The PSA's annual report – fact section
http://www.ptil.no/getfile.php/PDF/%C3%85rsberetning%202010%20eng.pdf In addition to the Safety - status and signals magazine, the PSA publishes an annual facts section of its annual report. This is issued electronically in late April and coincides with the publication of the trends in risk level report (see below). The fact section deals with important results from our activities. Furthermore, the report contains brief information on personal injuries, work-related illness, leaks, fires anddamage to structures and pipelines.
Trends in risk level
http://www.ptil.no/getfile.php/PDF/RNNP%202010/Summary_Report_2010_rev1a1.pdf The Trends in risk level(RNNP) was initiated in 1999/2000 to develop and apply a measurement tool to show the development in risk levels in the petroleum sector. The project focuses on personal risk, and comprises major accidents, work accidents and selected working environment factors.
